Complete Streets: Can They Be More?

Course Description:

The Living Streets Manual will be reviewed and guidelines explored. ?EUR??,,????'?????<

Landregan will provide examples of designs from the Living Streets guidelines, that include historical precedent and national and international examples of streets that include and incorporate ecological considerations, both social and environmental. The session will discuss the considerations and constraints within these projects, specific techniques that combine the infrastructural and aesthetic benefit. The session will also present examples and benefits from reclaiming, transforming and energizing streets as shared space.

Biography:

Stephanie Landregan is the Director for the Landscape Architecture Program and the Horticulture and Gardening Program at UCLA Extension. As Director, Landregan manages over 50 adjunct instructors; reviews, writes and suggests curriculum, and manages the budget for the program. She has taught at UCLA Extension?EUR??,,????'?????<
In May 2010, Stephanie was elected Vice President of the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), and is a candidate for President Elect of CLARB. She also served as Vice President of Government Affairs for the American Society of Landscape Architects (2009-2010), and is also a past Chief Landscape Architect for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, where she designed access to open space in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Landregan is a licensed landscape architect in California, her designs include inner city parks, wilderness trails and trailheads, soccer fields, ball fields, equestrian facilities, residences from estates to small intimate gardens, and continues to consult throughout Southern California and Kentucky. Her volunteer work includes serving as the Chair of the City of Glendale's Planning Commission, and previously as a Commissioner of the Historic Preservation Commission for 3 years, and as a Design Review Board member for 6 years for the City of Glendale. Landregan is an appointed member of the state of California's Landscape Architects Technical Committee, and secretary for VOICE, Volunteers Organized in Concern for the Environment, and is passionately active in California?EUR??,,????'?????<
