Visit Southern California's most notable landscape architecture sites, on a private and guided bus tour from the LA Expo on Saturday, February 9th. Attendees have the option to choose from two tours, each lasting approximately five hours. The Huntington Botanical Gardens Tour departs at 12:00 pm; beginning with the Wilmington Waterfront Park by Sasaki Associates, a revitalization project of the San Pedro shipyards. The next tour will take place in Old Town Pasadena where Mel????(R)???(C)ndrez completed a streetscape renovation and enhanced the area's historic characteristics. The tour will end at the Huntington Botanical Gardens, where guests will enjoy 120 acres of landscaped gardens with over 14,000 different varieties of plants. The Getty Villa Tour departs at 12:30 pm; beginning with the Wilmington Waterfront Park by Sasaki Associates, a revitalization project of the San Pedro shipyards. The next tour will take place at the Annenberg Community Center, originally developed during the Gold Coast era of the 1920s by William Randolph Hearst for actress Marion Davies. Now owned by the Annenberg Foundation and open to the public the landscape was revitalized by Mia Lehrer + Associates. The tour will end at the Getty Villa; landscape design features a mix of Mediterranean and native California varieties, along with local plants of the Santa Monica mountains. About The Landscape Architects' Expo The Landscape Architects' Expo (LA Expo), a two-day regional landscape architect educational conference and trade show, will be held Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California. The LA Expo was created specifically for Landscape Architects, Designers and Commercial Specifiers in the western United States. The LA Expo is a regional venue in which Landscape Architects, Specifiers and those who provide goods and services to the profession can get together to exchange ideas, introduce new products and technologies, establish and renew business relationships, and talk projects. Attendees at the inaugural 6-hour event in March of 2012 included 254 licensed landscape architects, 350 landscape designers, 144 lighting designers, 71 city planners, 58 architects, 51 land planners, 31 commercial developers, about 130 other designers and contractors, 49 educators, a few dozen students and about 149 exhibitors. Due to the event's success, the 2013 LA Expo has been expanded by an additional half-day and features a 57,000 square foot exhibit hall, a LAF Charity Reception on Friday, February 8th and bus tours of local landscape architectural highlights on Saturday, February 9th.
