His understanding of the visual and functional qualities of space and the human need for intimacy in the designed environment is enlivened by his love of art and the organic forms found in nature, the power of which inspires his landscape design and his drive to share his expertise.

He believes landscape architects are uniquely equipped to address urbanism and the stewardship of the natural environment, and encourages others to see landscape architects as leaders and agents of positive change. His work has been recognized with more than 35 professional awards at the local, state, national and international levels.
