Course Description: As the country moves into a ?EUR??,,????'??Greener and more Sustainable?EUR??,,????'?? direction laws and regulations are changing to reflect these national legislative and regulatory decisions. Managed turf and landscapes are being targeted as nonessential or cosmetic with little consideration for the benefits of a managed ecosystem. Join Tom Delaney, Director of Government Affairs at PLANET as he discusses the efforts in place to reduce the use of turf and landscapes, such as EPA WaterSense, Cash for Grass Programs and pesticide restrictions. Delaney, a committee member of the H-2B Workforce Coalition will also discuss the current status of H-2B, as well as where it has been, and what can be expected in the future. This open discussion on laws and regulations will help the landscape professional learn how to work within the changing landscape of the profession. Air Pollution (noise, dust and emissions) Biography: Tom Delaney is Director of Government Affairs for the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). He was with the Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA, one of PLANET?EUR??,,????'???s legacy associations) for 15 years, four of which he also served as its Executive Vice President. Prior to joining PLCAA, Delaney spent 15 years as a pesticide regulator for the state of Georgia. A native of New York, he attended the State University of New York, and received a BSA in Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia. He has testified before U.S. Senate and House subcommittees at lawn care and Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) hearings involving pesticides and lawn care regulations. He has worked closely with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Government Accounting Office (GAO), and the media on a range of issues affecting the lawn care industry. In 1994, he received Landscape Management?EUR??,,????'???s Lawn Care Industry Person of the Year Award, and in 2002, he was one of the recipients of the industry?EUR??,,????'???s Leadership Award. Recently, he was appointed to a two-year term on the Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee (PPDC), the EPA?EUR??,,????'???s Federal Advisory Committee. He was also named by Green Media in 2012 as one of the ?EUR??,,????'??Most Influential People in the Green Industry?EUR??,,????'??
