Course Description: Currently California is facing the continuing problem of invasive insects and weeds and the destruction they are bringing to our state. There is an average of one new invasive insect introduction every month. The speaker will review why this problem exists, information and identification on many of the current weeds and insects we are battling, and new low impact methods for controlling these pests. She will also discuss the explosion of the disease known as Leaf Scorch on many of our landscape trees in Southern California that is being spread by the Glassy-winged Sharpshooter. Biography: Erin Arnott is currently the Valent USA Territory Manager covering California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. She has been a Pest Control Advisor for over 30 years, licensed in all categories. Erin is a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona with a BS degree in Ornamental Horticulture. She is also an associate professor at Southwestern College Horticulture Department in Chula Vista. In 1998, Erin was nominated as speaker of the year with the PAPA organization. She was involved with the establishment of the protocol for both the Red Imported Fire Ant and Glassy-winged Sharpshooter quarantines in California.
