Presented by: : Ron Whitehurst, PCA, Rincon-Vitova Insectaries Inc.
Thursday October 13 - 1:30 - 3:00 PM

Course Description:

Biological control programs are been developed for many pests in the landscape. Ron will discuss the principals of biocontrol and how they apply to managing common landscape pests. Cultural, physical, and soft chemical controls can be successfully integrated with beneficial insects, nematodes and predatory mites. We will explore sampling and monitoring techniques to identify the pest and find evidence of predators and parasites feeding on pests. The features of common beneficial insects and release methods will be introduced. Often ants will interfere with control so low risk ant control measures will be presented.
