Course Description:

This 50 minute presentation provides an overview of the major insect pests that threaten urban forests nationwide with a segue into the most recent diseases and insects that currently attack California tree species. The issues affecting California trees in native woodland and urban sites include Sudden Oak Death disease, Pitch canker of native Monterey Pine, and most recently the Golden Spotted Oak Borer. Environmental impacts of lost canopy for wildlife, quality of life, and property values are discussed. Best Management practices if known are reviewed for the practicing arborist.

Biography:

Marianne has worked in the Green Industry in a management or marketing capacity for more than 30 years. She is an ISA Certified Arborist with a proven background in Integrated Pest Management solutions for both commercial arborists and professional grounds maintenance managers. In her role as Product Development Manager for Mauget, she has been instrumental in providing new and improved chemistry for several exotic insect pests such as the Emerald Ash and Asian Long-horned borers."
