Biography:

Jim Engelke, ASLA, LEED AP is a licensed landscape architect in the State of California, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a LEED Accredited Professional. His experience includes a broad range of project types with several prominent Southern California design firms over the past twenty years. He is currently in charge of national sales and marketing for Drivable Grass??????oe, a permeable, flexible and plantable concrete pavement system manufactured by Soil Retention Products, Inc. of Carlsbad, CA and is Principal of EDG Landscape Architecture in Fallbrook, CA, where he lives.

Course Title: Green Parking Solutions

Course Description: From the desire to satisfy personal environmental concerns, to the need to comply with local regulatory requirements, the movement toward green parking has gained momentum over the past decade. Green parking includes porous residential driveways, permeable parking stalls and bioswales in traditional commercial parking lots as well as sustainable open space overflow parking areas. The most productive green parking involves vegetated pavement. Vegetated pavement cools the atmosphere, reduces storm water runoff and cleans effluents from the water entering into our aquifer. This seminar will discuss the strategies, benefits, material requirements and costs involved in creating vegetated pavement green parking.
