Title:Principles of Sustainable Landscaping

Biography:

Janet Hartin has served as an environmental horticulturist with University of California Cooperative Extension since 1984. She has presented over 1000 talks at workshops, symposia, and conferences and published over 300 articles on topics related to sustainable landscaping. She recently was chosen as one of two University of California scientists to serve on the CA Dept. of Water Resources Water Task Force and has received over $400,000 in grants and contracts from the DWR and the CA Integrated Waste Management Board.

Course Title: Principles of Sustainable Landscaping

Course Description: This workshop will cover the critical elements of sustainable landscaping: plant water use and effective irrigation; greenwaste reduction and recycling; and, integrated pest management strategies stressing prevention. Resources including a website to obtain the PowerPoint presentation for future use and relevant University of CA websites will be included.
