Susan Sims' "New Tree disease-Xylella Fastidiosa" (PAPA) Oct 6th, 11:30 to 12:30 This session will focus specifically on the role stress plays in pest and disease incidence. Discussion will include some reasons trees become stressed and also some insects and diseases attracted. Susan will also discuss Xylella fastidiosa, a systemic leaf scorch disease.
Susan Sims' "Treating Oak Bore" (PAPA) Oct 7th, 10:30 to 11:30 Susan will present oak problems associated with their planting in the landscape. She will cover many of their cultural, pest and disease problems. The Gold spotted oak borer will be presented. What to watch for, why it is important not to move wood from San Diego county, and what to do as this pest spreads.
Eric Gerhartz''s "Natural Animal Control in Turf & Ornamentals" (PAPA) Oct. 6th, 12:30 to 1:30
Mike Henry's "A-Bio Tree Woody Plant Diseases" (PAPA) Oct. 7th, 11:30 to 12:30 Get general insight on problems in the landscape that are commonly thought to be mostly caused by insects, diseases or other animals. This course shows the main abiotic issues found in California landscapes and helps students differentiate between biotic and abiotic causes, thus making them aware of problems that do not need or respond to pesticide applications.
Mike Henry's "Turfgrass Weeds and their Control" (PAPA) Oct. 7th, 1:30 to 2:30 The course will cover common turfgrass weeds and their control using Integrated Pest Management, will go over common turf maintenance practices and how they affect weed invasion; highlight recent research on turf fertilizer products containing herbicides and their effect on broad-leaf weeds. Provide other remedies and approaches. There will be a Power Point Presentation with handouts related to topics outlined
Manny Delgadillo's "Pesticide Spraying & Calibration" (PAPA) Oct. 7th, 12:30 to 1:30 This seminar will discuss safety and the importance of wearing approved goggles; respirator, gloves etc., How to keep your equipment clean and clear from objects on the sides and use of California approved air gap and lid lock; Getting to know your equipment and knowing your sprayer capabilities such as pressure, gpm etc., Identifying components: pump, engine, pressure regulator and its functions. Manny will go over routine maintenance and understanding the areas of maintenance and periodic repairs. The course will also go over a helpful guide to troubleshooting gasoline and electric spray equipment, designed to save you time and money by identifying the probable causes and possible solutions.
NOTE: Earn PAPA, CLT, ISA and APLD CEU's in Over 45 Seminars in Secluded, Multimedia Rooms.
