Jos????????(R)???????+???????(R)???????(C) M. Almi????????(R)???????+???????(R)????????ana of Andropogon Associates, Ltd. was nominated in the service to the profession category. He is an advocate for the importance of landscape architect involvement in planning and development. His groundbreaking projects, public service, and cross-discipline collaboration have positioned landscape architects at the core of the sustainability movement. His firm?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s work in rainwater management, bioengineering design, and the ecological remediation of urban landscapes weaves together the landscapes of man and nature for the benefit of both. As a key player in the Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES) and a frequent lecturer, Almi????????(R)???????+???????(R)????????ana is among the leading landscape architects of his generation.
Nominated in the Works of Landscape Architecture category, Ignacio Bunster-Ossa is an architecture graduate who was fascinated early in his career by the value of landscape design. He stands today as one of the most respected landscape architects in the United States, with a focus on public places and their integration into the urban realm. Among the many notable urban landscapes, new communities, university campuses, waterfronts, parks, and civic spaces that have benefited from his planning and landscape design expertise are the Georgetown Waterfront Park and Anacostia Waterfront in Washington; Nashville?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s Public Square; the Trinity River Corridor in Dallas; and Palisades Park in Santa Monica, Calif.
Lucinda Sanders of the firm OLIN was also nominated in the Works of Landscape Architecture category. With an emphasis on social purpose and ecological sensitivity, her restorative landscapes combine her talents in urbanism with her interest in social and natural systems, philosophy, and art. Her design and management ingenuity has drawn design commissions from the Battery Park City Authority, GSA, and Carnegie Hall. Her firm is also developing the new master plan for Philadelphia?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s Delaware River waterfront. On the University of Pennsylvania faculty she has created an ambitious urban design studio that addresses real-world design problems along the East Coast. Her service to the profession has raised the profile of ASLA and the profession.
