Maffei Landscape Contractors wanted to help deck the halls and spread a little holiday cheer on the Cape this last December. The Mashpee-based landscaping company gave away 100 Christmas trees in exchange for a donation to the Toys for Tots Foundation or the Bourne Food Pantry.
?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????The event was more successful than we could have imagined. It was fantastic!?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????? said Robert Maffei, president of Maffei Landscape Contractors on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. ?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????We?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????ve never done an event like this and had no idea what to expect. We had great weather that day and gave away 140 Christmas trees in exchange for either non-perishable food items, new toys or clothing. We collected over 700 articles of clothing and donated three very large truckloads of food, toys and clothing donations. We estimate that 350 or so people came to the event which included tons of children that loved the moonwalk, the fire engine from our local fire department, Santa Claus and of course the cotton candy and popcorn. In addition to the donated items, we were able to make a cash donation to the Toys for Tots fund with all the money we raised with our girls and boys bike raffle.
We had so many people who attended the event ask us if we would do this again next year that all the employees decided to make this an annual event. We all felt incredibly good about it!?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????
The free event took place on Sunday, December 14th. Maffei Landscape employees were on hand to load Christmas trees into the first 100 vehicles arriving with a donation of either a bag of non-perishable food, a winter jacket or a new unwrapped children?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s toy.
Attendees could also get their picture taken with Santa Claus, play on an indoor moonbounce and enjoy cookies, cider, and other gourmet goodies. The event was broadcast live on local stations from the event, providing a back-drop of festive, holiday music.
?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????As a company, we wanted to do something that would include the whole community and provide support to those who need a helping hand this season,?EUR??,,????'?????<????????????????? said Robert Maffei, Founder and President of Maffei Landscape Contractors.
?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????As we all know, these are tough economic times. I?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????ve lived on the Cape my entire life and the community has always been very good to me and my company. I hope that we did our small part to give something back.?EUR??,,????'?????<?????????????????
