2008 National Preservation Award Winners



The National Trust for Historic Preservation announced the 21 recipients of the 2008 National Preservation Awards at the National Preservation Conference in Tulsa, Okla., October 23.

The awards go to individuals, but also to nonprofit organizations, public agencies and corporations who contribute to preserving, rehabilitating, or interpreting America?EUR??,,????'?????<

There were six National Preservation awards presented, and 15 honor awards.

The pride and joy of a small mining town when it opened in 1919, the Curley School in Ajo, Ariz., was forced to close its doors when hard times hit in the 1980s. Reclaiming the building was a risky proposition, but an array of public and private partners came together to reopen the school as the centerpiece of a community-wide revitalization effort.
