A big LSMP welcome to the 2,000 Golf Course Superintendents who are receiving Landscape Superintendent and Maintenance Professional (LSMP) for the first time with this issue!
That?EUR??,,????'???s right . . . Better duck and cover because LSMP has invited 2,000 Golf Course Superintendents to join our readership . . .
LSMP already reaches more than 35,000 Landscape Superintendents across the country who manage landscapes that range from a few acres to huge properties like the 5,200 acres at Texas A&M . . .
We chose the 2,000 Golf Course Superintendents based on the total length of the course(s) they manage. The longest course lengths we found managed by one superintendent were 42,547 total yards at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif., 40,940 total yards of Landings Club in Savannah, Ga.; 40,605 total yards at Walt Disney World Golf Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. and 40,188 total yards at Bella Vista Village in Arkansas.
In all, 41 of the 2,000 Golf Course Superintendents manage course complexes with more than 20,000 yards of play . . . That?EUR??,,????'???s a lot of green . . . And certainly worthy of joining the ranks of LSMP?EUR??,,????'???s readership.
Just so you know . . . Over its first five (5) years, LSMP has put together a unique readership of professional groundskeepers from universities, parks departments, school districts, cemeteries, resorts, amusement parks and sports facilities.
A little over 75 percent of LSMP?EUR??,,????'???s readers manage more than 50 acres of land, with half of those, or about 37 percent, managing more than 250 acres. So, as a golf course superintendent you should fit right in. That is if, like more than 92 percent of LSMP readers, you have been in the business for more than 11 years and like more than 81 percent of LSMP readers, you have been at your current position for more than 5 years . . .
Speaking of professional status . . . LSMP is the only publication officially endorsed by the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS), which is the national association for those professionals who manage the landscapes at these large facilities.
That?EUR??,,????'???s right, LSMP isn?EUR??,,????'???t designed for the independent lawn and garden maintenance guy, although a lot of what you will read could assist them as well . . . No . . . LSMP is meant for the highly skilled manager, with the million dollar budgets, large in-house crews, more than just a handful of lawn mowers and with about 80 percent having at least one licensed pesticide applicator on staff.
Not only are LSMP readers involved with fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and soil amendments, but they also take care of the benches, fencing, trash receptacles, signage and walkways around their facilities . . .
If this sounds familiar to you Golf Course Superintendents, then you are definitely LSMP readership material . . .
My guess is that you also have a stable full of riding mowers with specialty mowers as well, and in that barn are also an abundant supply of trimmers, turf aerators, tractors, sprayers, spreaders and utility vehicles . . . Yep . . . That?EUR??,,????'???s what LSMP is all about . . .
So, what do you want to read about in a professional journal? Well LSMP readers are always asking for more articles on turf care, fertilizer and chemical applications, staffing issues, equipment purchasing and equipment maintenance, sustainable practices, water maintenance and management skills . . .
And that is exactly what you will find filling the pages of LSMP . . .
So . . . With all of the above in mind . . . Welcome again to you 2,000 Golf Course Superintendents! We look forward to hearing more from you and from all of LSMP?EUR??,,????'???s readers and we look forward to doing what we can to help make your jobs, and your lives a little easier . . .
?EUR??,,????'??+God Bless
