The Eastern Shore Association of Golf Course Superintendents recently continued in a long-standing tradition of giving. Carrying on the ESAGCS mission of developing, supporting and advancing the professional careers of dedicated turf industry managers, they donated a total of $22,000 into their community.
The money raised during the August annual golf tournament and fundraiser and was divided up equally between charity and turfgrass research. Eleven-thousand dollars went to the Maryland Turfgrass Council on behalf of the University of Maryland?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s Turfgrass Research Center. To date the association has donated more than $36,000 to the University of Maryland to go towards turfgrass research, which will benefit the industry in the Mid Atlantic region.
The association also donated an additional $11,000 to the Believe in Tomorrow Children?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s Foundation, which supports children and their families who face life threatening health issues. To date the ESAGCS has donated more than $61,000 in cash and services to the Believe in Tomorrow?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s Children?EUR??,,????'?????<???EUR?s House by the Sea in Ocean City, Md., over the past nine years.

Golf course superintendents are relatively anonymous and we want to get the word our about out industry,?EUR??,,????'?????<? said ESAGCS President John Kotoski, GCSAA Class A superintendent at River Run Golf Club in Berlin, Md.
The Maryland Turfgrass Council was organized in 1972 as a way for people who worked in different segments of the turfgrass industry to pool their talents and improve turfgrass research and education in Maryland. It was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1977, and is governed by a Constitution and By-laws through its Officers and Board of Directors.
MTC strives to promote and unite the interests of individuals, private industry, organizations, and public and private institutions. The aim of MTC is to promote the science, technology, professional practice and improvement of turfgrass production, management, research, and education in the State of Maryland.
