Thirty years ago, Bill Smith and Ned Smith met while students at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. After working in the field for a few years, they joined forces in 1981 to launch Smith & Smith. The firm quickly established a reputation as a top-notch regional landscape architecture and urban planning firm. They deliver results and take excellent care of their clients. Smith & Smith is regarded today as a top area design firm that continues to grow and excel.

Shutters Beach Front Hotel, Santa Monica

This 200-room luxury hotel on the famous Santa Monica beachfront, recalls the colorful historic beach resorts and cottages along the Southern California coastline. A grand entry stairway opens onto a public promenade and park. The landscape also features sun terraces, garden courtyards and fountains.

Four Seasons Hualalai Resort, Kona Kohala, Hawaii

The South Kona Kohala Coast of Hawaii is the setting for this very prestigious beach and golf resort hotel, conference center and spa. The architecture and landscape master plan and design for this new 3,000-acre development reflects a distinctly Hawaiian character, using natural materials of slate, teak and bamboo, as well as native plants, indigenous lava walls, ponds and wetlands.
