Landscape architect John Montgomery set up the firm with a support staff that makes it possible for him to personally design and oversee each project. This gives him creative control and allows him to get to know each client individually. The office is in Alamo, Calif., located in Contra Costa County. Montgomery has 30-plus years of expertise. His unique art, construction and architecture background is the driving force behind his stunning yet practical, award-winning landscape designs. John is aware that while design options are limitless, most budgets are not. To assist clients in making design choices that fit their budget, a construction cost analysis is prepared. This gives clients options before their projects are sent out to bid and puts them in control of their budgets while their design is still being created. Over the past three decades, the team has designed residential, school, apartment and commercial landscapes. Finished work exists in California, Nevada, Mexico and elsewhere.

With five young children at this home, the design team created lots of play space, including lawn, sand box, climbing boulders, tree house with slide and a beach-like pool with a waterfall. Various hardscape materials were used, including travertine pavers for the terraces and main dinning pavilion, oyster thistle flagstone for the paths and walkways, cobblestone pavers for the auto court and driveway, ledgerstone for walls and columns. The result is a lush, colorful estate that maximizes the use of outdoor estate living.
The backyard includes a custom-design tile lap pool and spa. Montgomery and the team terraced the backyard creating several levels as the back sloped towards the rear. Several red brick patios for entertaining space and steps leading to a two-part dining/sitting cabana were created with another custom tile wall fountain. The firm repeated the terracotta tile flooring and stucco walls that lead to an outdoor fireplace done in a Southwest kiva design. The grounds are landscaped with a lush and colorful plant palette from fruitless Swan Hill olives, bougainvillea and roses. The finished product restored the magnificence of this Casa California classic.

The client wanted to create a stunning and useful space for entertaining while preserving the site?EUR??,,????'???s natural beauty. The team?EUR??,,????'???s approach was to at all costs, preserve the natural beauty of the site while giving the client what they wanted and to do it within the guidelines and restrictions of the city. The project included many water features to help mask the freeway noise while bringing forth interesting focal points. In the backyard, areas for outdoor living were created. There is a main dining patio near the house with large pots of dwarf citrus. In between the dining patio and the pool?EUR??,,????'???s sun deck is a small lawn for play and expanded table space for larger parties.
