Golden Associates is a landscape architecture firm in Oakland doing urban design and planning, plus park and recreation, institutional, community housing and residential projects. The principal is Leslie Golden. The senior associates are Laurie Bartha and Manuel Quintero. Jennifer Egawa is an associate; Logan Tautenhahn is the junior designer; and Erin Numm is the administrative assistant.

West Estudillo Historic Downtown Pedestrian Improvements, San Leandro, Calif.

In partnership with a Metropolitan Transit Commission?EUR??,,????'???s TLC (Trust for Livable Cities) grant, San Leandro requested streetscape and pedestrian improvements, spanning six-blocks from the BART Station through a residential neighborhood, bisecting a commercial shopping center and terminating at Washington Plaza in the commercial downtown area.

Once a part of Mission San Jose, this historic cemetery has been the final resting place for the Dominican Sister?EUR??,,????'???s of Mission San Jose for over 75 years.

Two low-curved entry walls reinforce the strong axial relationship to the crucifixion scene and formally extends the entry. Material selection is restrained to reinforce solemnity. Paint colors match the existing Motherhouse.

Ainsley Plaza, Campbell, Calif.

The Ainsley Plaza was based upon Golden Associates?EUR??,,????'??? winning competition conceptual sketch prepared for the Campbell Redevelopment Agency. Previously designed as a circulation path through a lawn area, the space now supports civic gatherings, special community activities and improved entrance to the Old Town Center. The design features an urban plaza framed by public art, a historic walnut tree, seat wall and grass berm. Partially funded by the Valley Transit Authority, the project included special paving, pedestrian lighting and signage to direct individuals to the transit station.
