Gates & Associates is a 41-person landscape architecture, urban design and land planning firm located in San Ramon, Calif. This 36-acre central park and community center is a landmark destination for the City of San Ramon. The master plan responded to the community?EUR??,,????'???s need for sports facilities, as well as event spaces for weddings and festivals. The firm worked closely with the steering committee and different user groups to create a memorable place that accommodated their requirements.
Middle Harbor Shoreline Park is a 38-acre park built on the San Francisco Bay, on the former site of Oakland?EUR??,,????'???s Naval Supply Center. Extensive public outreach resulted in a plan that accommodates active and passive uses, as well as historical, recreational and natural elements. The community?EUR??,,????'???s desire to emphasize educational aspects can be seen in elements throughout the park.
Bay Meadows is composed of a 575-unit apartment complex, a mixed-use retail development and a linear park. It was honored with the 2004 Gold Nugget Grand Award for Best Redevelopment, Rehab or Infill Site Plan, and the 2004 ASLA Northern California Chapter Merit Award. The Sierra Club has included this project as one of America?EUR??,,????'???s best new developments in their Nov., 2005 publication, ?EUR??,,????'??Building Better.?EUR??,,????'???
