2005 ASLA Professional Awards

The American Society of Landscape Architects selected 33 recipients for its annual professional awards, this year including a residential design category. The awards are classified thusly:

Award of Excellence: General Design (2 awards)
Award of Honor: General Design (10 awards)
Residential Design: Award of Excellence (1 award)
Residential Design: Award of Honor (8 awards)
Analysis and Planning: Award of Excellence (1 award)
Analysis and Planning: Award of Honor (9 awards)
Communications: Award of Honor (2 awards)

The awards will be presented Oct. 10 at the ASLA annual meeting in Fort Lauderdale.

2005 ASLA Professional Awards jury. Before: The graves of over 30 Civil War veterans before the restoration project included toppled and broken headstones and paths, made by bike tires, crossing many graves.

?EUR??,,????'??We try to make these spaces visible to the public,?EUR??,,????'?? Thomas Balsley, FASLA, told LASN, and thus the can?EUR??,,????'???t?EUR??,,????'???miss 12-foot x 96-foot corrugated metal fence painted with red Kynar 500. The fiberglass planters hold temple and pygmy bamboo. Boulders lie in beds of daylilies and ornamental grasses. Stainless steel benches are wall-mounted with bracketed tablettes welded to the benches. Curved, battered seating walls look out onto precast concrete terrace steps. This rural 10-acre parcel on the banks of the Cane River south of Natchitoches was once a cotton field. The entry garden of local perennials is contained by a fence of recycled heart pine and cypress fencing that replicates local 18th and 19th century rural precedents.
