1st Annual Maryland ASLA
Professional Awards

On April 24, 2014 in Baltimore, the Maryland ASLA Chapter presented
Catherine Mahan, FASLA (center) an Award of Excellence for Lifetime Achievement. She founded her landscape architecture firm in 1983. Today, that firm, Mahan Rykiel Associates, Inc., of Baltimore, employs 40 professionals. In 2012, she stepped down as president, but oversees the firm as chair of the board of directors. The firm received a Merit Award (Druid Hill Park Lake plan), and an Honor Award (Children's Inn Play Garden at NIH) at the Maryland ASLA Chapter Design Awards.

Clinton & Associates, PC, of Baltimore garnered two Merit Awards,
including one for Martin Meadow Pond, an eye-catching New Hampshire residential garden.

The Cameron project, a plaza/entry spaces for an apartment building coupled with a corporate headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., earned Hord Coplan Macht, Inc., of Baltimore a Merit Award in General Design.

For about 20 years the Maryland and Potomac ASLA chapters jointly participated in an annual awards banquet/ceremony. This year, however, each chapter wanted their own awards banquet. On April 24, 2014 in Baltimore, the Maryland ASLA Chapter presented its inaugural design awards, selected by a jury of peers that included members of the Vermont ASLA Chapter.
