ALCA Warns Contractors

PHOENIX, AZ

 

One of the Arizona Landscape Contractors Association (ALCA)'s members was recently audited by the United States Department of Labor. Notification of the audit was given one week prior to the meeting. This landscape contractor has encouraged ALCA to notify practitioners nationwide, and recommends reviewing employee documentation at this time.

Auditors are looking at salaries/wages paid, payroll taxes accrued and paid, proper completion of I-9's, proper positing of employment posters, time cards, etc... Two years worth of information should be available for review.

The ALCA member was told that he was the 14th landscape company to be audited on a list of 1,200-1,400 nationwide.

ALCA recommends that contractors review records to make sure they are within policy and the law. The following publications are available as a resource to you:
