LandCare USA, Inc. was founded in 1997 to be a national provider of comprehensive landscape and tree services to the commercial and institutional markets. The company was founded from seven landscape construction firms-- Trees, Inc. (Houston, TX); Four Seasons Landscape and Maintenance, Inc. (Foster City, CA); Southern Tree & Landscape Co., Inc. (Charlotte, NC); D.R. Chuch Landscape Co., Ic. (Lombard, IL); Ground Control Landscaping, Inc. (Orlando, FL); Arteka Corporation (Eden Prairie, MN); and Desert Care Landscaping, Inc. (Phoenix, AZ). And, last June, the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange.

According to company founders, "LandCare USA intends to become the leading national provider of comprehensive landscape and tree services to commercial and institutional markets through its geographic coverage, and its quality and range of services." In addition to emphasizing internal growth, the company is in the process of implementing an aggressive consolidation strategy.

According to Desert Care Landscaping President Jeff Meyer, this aggressive consolidation strategy is among the first such moves in the landscape construction industry. Meyer explained to LCM," It's a very exciting time right now. And, despite such a huge merger, our employees and their work have been virtually uninterrupted. That's just the way we wanted it."
