Ipe (pronounced ee-pay) is a sustainably harvested wood imported from South America. Ipe hardwood is popular due to its beauty, strength, and hardness. It is highly scratch and dent resistant. A deck, terrace, or walkway made of ipe will hardly reveal dog nail scratches, high heels, or furniture scuffs. Ipe is also highly resistant to problems related to moisture and insects. Ipe's density and weight render it very stable so that it changes very little when exposed to the elements. With no finishing, ipe decking will last for decades, achieving a nice silver finish.
