PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The roughly hexagonal shape of the Natural Basalt Column is created when a lava flow begins to cool from the inside. Fissures form and expand. Finally, the lava flow hardens into a honeycomb of columns. We highlight the piece by polishing the alternating faces of the stone while leaving the other sides natural. For sculptural appeal, we add horizontal saw cuts.
