The POW/MIA National Memorial at Riverside National Cemetery
Riverside, Calif.
BMLA has designed multiple memorials at the Riverside National Cemetery including the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action National Memorial. BMLA contributed its design services to the Veterans Administration's Advisory Committee to create a plaza that incorporated the POW sculpture. Designated as a national memorial by the U.S. Congress, the bronze statue depicts an American serviceman on his knees with hands bound by his captors and is surrounded by nine solid black granite pillars that evoke imprisonment. The plaza is part of an overall master plan for the Riverside National Cemetery. The entire master plan, designed by BMLA, provides a unique experience for visitors to learn and pay tribute to the nation's military efforts and sacrifices.
