Recipients Awarded for Community Contributions ![]() The American Planning Association (APA) announced the winners for the 2019 National Planning Excellence Awards. The awards honor planning efforts, initiatives and individuals that work to improve their respective communities. Eligibility is based on a finished project, program, tool, process, report or ordinance and must be submitted within three years of completion. The categories are Advancing Diversity & Social Change, HUD Secretary's Opportunity & Empowerment Award, Daniel Burnham Award for a Comprehensive Plan, Pierre L'Enfant International Planning Award (for international nominees), and the Planning Pioneers Award.
