Urban Planning Seminar Track

Thursday, February 13th
1:30 - 3:00 pm
Landscape Design for Transportation Projects in the Urban Environment,
Lynn Capouya

Transit-oriented development, or TOD, is a type of community development that includes a mixture of housing, office, retail and/or other amenities integrated into a walkable neighborhood and located within a half-mile of quality public transportation.

TOD is community connectivity. Traditionally, transit centers, retail development, and housing were segregated activities with driving our cars from destination to destination. As transportation-oriented design (TOD) expands in our communities, our urban centers offer more activities and choices at the nodes or stations.
