The Southern Nursery Association recently announced their 2013 Retailers' Choice Awards – those products deemed to have the greatest potential to be best sellers at retail. A total of eleven products were selected by a panel of independent retailers during the SNA trade show.

"Retailers are always looking for new and innovative products with great sales potential," said Karen Summers, SNA executive vice president. "The SNA Retailers' Choice Awards recognizes the hottest new products that are not only unique, but hold great promise of sales."

One of the products chosen was Hibiscus "Cranberry Crush,' a member of the Summerific???(R)???AE???? series from Walters Gardens, Inc., which hybridized the perennial. The plant had already been included in the Proven Winners???(R)???AE???? Perennial program in 2011. Since that time, it has been reported to be a top seller at both the wholesale and retail levels.

According to the grower, "Cranberry Crush' naturally forms a compact, upright rounded clump of deep green foliage without the need for PGRs. They claim that it is very long blooming due to its indeterminate flowering characteristic, and that by starting with bare root materials, retailers can have full sized, three-gallon plants in bloom in just a few short months.
