The Arizona chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (AZASLA) has named University of Arizona Professor Ronald Stoltz its ?EUR??,,????'??2008 Outstanding Landscape Architect.” The chapter presented the award at its mid-year meeting in Phoenix, May 7-9.
Prof. Stoltz, director of the School of Landscape Architecture in the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the UA, was cited for taking on a substantial role in raising funds for the unique, water-harvesting landscape that is integrated into the college?EUR??,,????'???s new addition.
AZASLA Chapter President Jim Coffman and past-president Lori Woods praised Stoltz for fostering relations within the landscape architecture profession and the broader community.
Prof. Stoltz came to the UA in 2002 to head the School of Landscape Architecture. He previously taught at the University of Guelph in Canada.
During his tenure at the UA, the school has been named as the No. 1 program in the western U.S. by DesignIntelligence, the publication of the Design Futures Council, a Washington, D.C.-based group of design professionals.
Some of his other awards include the 3-M Canada Teaching Fellowship, Outstanding Educator?EUR??,,????'??+Council of Educators In Landscape Architecture (CELA), the CELA President’s award, and induction into the first class of CELA Fellows in 2006.
The UA School of Landscape Architecture is a three-year graduate professional degree program that focuses on arid lands, historic and cultural landscapes, international studies, small town and urban revitalization, urban design and eco-tourism and sustainable development.
