North Carolina?EUR??,,????'???s Falls Lake is the source of most of Raleigh?EUR??,,????'???s drinking and irrigation water.


Water abusers now face $200 fines for first-time violations to Raleigh, N.C.?EUR??,,????'???s water rules and $1,000 for a second violation. Beyond that, violators risk getting their water cut off if they don?EUR??,,????'???t comply.

The Raleigh City Council approved the next stage of water restrictions in December, which raise fines and limit lawn irrigation from three days a week to two.

The decision comes as Falls Lake, the city?EUR??,,????'???s water source, fell to 243.4 feet. That?EUR??,,????'???s close to its lowest recorded amount, which was set in 1993.

Fines shoot up to $200 for first-time offenders. A second violation would bring a $1,000 fine. The city had been issuing about 15 $50 citations a day to first-time violators in the past week.
