Quebec Residents Head to Ontario for Pesticides

Residents of Quebec are traveling to the neighboring province Ontario to buy pesticides to maintain their landscaping. Officials in Quebec recently banned the use and sale of hundreds of pesticides.


Since the recent banning of the use and sale of pesticides in Quebec, many Canadians are traveling to Ontario to get their supply.

In April, the government of Quebec banned the sale of products containing 20 chemicals that are found in approximately 200 pesticides and insecticide products.

?EUR??,,????'??Most of them are buying usually what they would use themselves, but there are people who are buying more than they need for the areas that they are describing to me,?EUR??,,????'?? said Neill Ritchie of Ritchie Seed and Feed Garden Centre in Ottawa.

The Pesticides Management Code and Pesticides Act are said to be the most restrictive laws of their kind in North America.
