You may have read our article ("Miles of Success") in the June issue of Landscape Contractor National about the Mow for Victory Tour. Josh Schmidt, a 19-year-old college student from Goessel, Kan., was chosen to drive a Hustler Super Z® lawnmower, painted to resemble Richard Petty?EUR??,,????'???s #43 Dodge race car, across the country in an effort to raise money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp. After three months and 2,200 miles of "mowing," the Mow for Victory Tour came to an exciting conclusion when Schmidt drove across the finish line at the camp on May 28th.
Beginning on June 20th, the autographed mower was put up for auction on ebay with a starting bid of $5,000. The auction ended June 26th at 6:00 pm. Ebay member "spikeatm" won with a bid $8,800. All proceeds will go to the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, NC to help children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses attend the racing-themed summer camp free of charge.
