COLUMBUS, Ohio - A draft pesticide applicator licensing bill is still under review at the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA). ODA has not made the draft available for review, but the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association has learned that the current draft preserves the trained serviceman concept and does not mandate licensure of all pesticide applicators. The ODA does want to make some changes as to how trained service persons will be directly supervised.
"Things have been stationary during the holidays," said ONLA representative Belinda Jones just before LCM went to press. "The pesticide bill is due out any day now."
State Senator Larry Mumper's office did not plan to hold hearings until after the New Year's holiday.
