Ohio Practice Act Columbus, OH Ohio's embattled practice act for landscape architects is making the rounds once again. The substitute bill that was rejected by the OSPE at the end of last year's session is receiving a new lease on life from some of Ohio's most influential organizations. According to Kathleen Fox, FASLA, the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio (PLSO), the Licensing Board of Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Consulting Engineers of Ohio have all indicated that they are in concurence with the substitute bill. The ASLA now holds letters from each of these parties confirming their endorsement of the legislation. In addition, the Government Affairs and Preferred Practice Committee Chairman has agreed with the bill, in principle, but has not offered a written concurence of his intent to support the bill. There has been no further communication from the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers who squashed the substitute bill last May. Fox is cautiously optimistic about the chances for the practice act in the coming legislative session.
