At $934.5 billion, November?EUR??,,????'???s estimated seasonally-adjusted rate busted through record levels again for the fifth month in a row. The 1.2% rise from last October surprised economists, who, according to a Dow Jones newswire, were expecting a mere 0.5% boost for the month. Consequently, October?EUR??,,????'???s estimate of 0.9% was revised upward 1.1% to a $923.8 billion increase in construction. With the lowest mortgage rates in four decades in place, economists are expecting the next year?EUR??,,????'???s construction activity to remain strong. Many economists are counting on the Federal Reserve to maintain key interest rates at record lows until at least mid-year in order to promulgate the continuation of the economic rebound, according to Dow Jones. Meanwhile, back in November, private construction rose 1.2%, and public construction increased 1.0%. Residential construction rose 1.9% from $492.2 billion to $501.6 billion, once again helping to fuel the economy?EUR??,,????'???s stabilization. Public construction increased in several sectors in November, including transportation?EUR??,,????'???s increase of 1.8%, power?EUR??,,????'???s 4.7% rise, and the 4.1% jump in highway and street construction spending. However, spending in healthcare, education, and conservation and development construction fell off in November. Healthcare saw a total 1.7% decrease in construction, while education witness a 0.8% loss. Conservation and development construction spending dropped 7.2%. All three sectors spent less this November than in November 2002. Total spending in November was 7.4% above last year?EUR??,,????'???s seasonally-adjusted rate of $870 billion.
