Lyle Braund’s newest art installation in Ridgway Town Park in Colo. is thriving in the recent cold temperatures. Braund, a Ridgway-based artist and landscaper, is well known throughout the area for his many ice sculptures during the winter months. In the past his sculptures were based on free-form steel structures that, when coated with ice were amazing, but when the ice melted, were a bit of a wreck. Braund, the operator of LB Landscapes, has lots of experience working with natural elements such as plants and ice, but now is beginning to experiment with lighting. His desire to get his sculptures back into the public eye have led him to combine ice with his landscaping roots in order to perfect a system of ice sculptures in which no carving is involved. He requires simply a location, water and power, then sets up the frame, turns on the running water and lets nature do the rest. His plans include changing the installation throughout the year. From the color of the lights, to their positions, his ideas are always evolving. For more information or photos of Braund’s work visit www.beyondicesculptures.com. Source: Montrose Daily Press Online
