Angela Woodward, ASLA, a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, is the new president of the Southern California ASLA Chapter.


Consulting (RBF) announced the installation of Angela Woodward, ASLA a senior associate and landscape architect in RBF?EUR??,,????'???s Irvine office, as the President of the Southern California Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (SCC/ASLA).

The office of President requires Ms. Woodward to preside at Chapter Board of Directors and General Membership meetings, act as a spokesperson for the Chapter, and supervise the affairs of the Board.

?EUR??,,????'??My main goal in serving as President of SCC/ASLA are to increase the organization?EUR??,,????'???s visibility, continue ASLA?EUR??,,????'???s leadership role on State and local issues, provide valuable and relevant services to the members, and expand the skill base for individuals in the profession,?EUR??,,????'?? stated Ms. Woodward.

In an exclusive interview with LASN Ms. Woodward expanded a little bit on the direction in which the SCC/ASLA was headed. National Landscape Architecture Month will be one focus of the SCC/ASLA in 2007.

The chapter will visit three to four middle and high schools, holding presentations designed to not only educate but increase outreach as well. The guidelines for scholarship opportunities are being developed as well as the plan to create a video about the founder of landscape architecture Frederick Law Olmsted.

An impassioned membership chair is contacting the approximate 1,000 members of the chapter in order to expand networking capabilities and the SCC/ASLA is also planning to participate in the upcoming Earth Day in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The four California chapters will join together in 2007 to host a lobby day event in Sacramento, Calif., but will also expanding the location of its event list to include opportunities for its members to become involved in the Orange County area.

Ms. Woodward has been active in her community and has served in past leadership positions within SCC/ASLA. Consulting (RBF) actively encourages roles in professional societies and provides a great deal of support to Ms. Woodward, who is a landscape architect within RBF?EUR??,,????'???s expanding Landscape Architecture Department.
