SACRAMENTO, Calif. ?EUR??,,????'??+ A California measure was recently signed into law by Gov. Gray Davis that requires contractors to display their contractor?EUR??,,????'???s license number and business name on each commercially registered motor vehicle used in their construction business. This information must be in a clearly visible location in print type of at least 72-point font or three-quarters of an inch in height and width. Previous state law only required the license number on vehicles if the vehicle had the name of the company or other advertising on it. The bill's sponsor was the State Building and Construction Trades Council. The labor organization?EUR??,,????'???s intent is to help enforcement staff of the Department of Industrial Relations to better respond to wage and safety violation complaints. The new law is also expected to improve enforcement of license and building code requirements. This law is scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2004.
