The MPDG combines three grant programs that previously operated separately: the Mega Awards, the INFRA Awards, and the Rural Surface Transportation Grant (Rural) Awards.
This cycle, $1.7 million is available for the National Infrastructure Project Assistance (Mega) Program, which invests in large, complex projects of national or regional significance, like highways, freights, ports, passenger rail, and public transportation.
As for the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) program, $2.7 billion is available for multimodal freight and highway programs of national or regional significance that improve safety and efficiency for people and freight moving between rural and urban areas.
The Rural program will have $780 million available for projects specifically focusing on transportation in rural areas, like highways, bridges, and tunnels.
Applications are due by May 6, 2024 on Grants.gov.
