Most of our ?EUR??,,????'??Moment of Silence?EUR??,,????'?? homages concern landscape architects with decades of work behind them. This one is about a landscape architect that was just getting started.

Steven and Michelle Andrews, both 28, moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 2004 from Edina, Minn. Steven Andrews had a master's degree from the University of Minnesota in landscape architecture and secured a position with Outside Productions in Bonita Springs, owned by Patrick Trefz, ALSA. The couple lived in a gated community in Gateway, which is east/southeast of Fort Meyers. Fort Myers is in southern Florida on the gulf side.

The young couple were found dead in their home the morning of Dec. 27 after police responded to a 911 call from the home. When the police arrived, the couple?EUR??,,????'???s two year old son opened the door. The police classified the deaths as homicide but did not release any details except a possible time of death: between 11 p.m. Monday Dec. 26 and 6 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 27.

An education trust fund has been set up for Luke Andrews. Contributions to the fund can be made at any Bank of America location.

Subsequent Events

On Jan. 11, police arrested Fred D. Cooper Jr., 27 in Orlando, charging him with two counts of first-degree murder in the Andrews killings. The AP reports the arrest record states Steven Andrews had been having a relationship with Cooper's girlfriend, Kellie Ballew, who worked in the accounting department of the landscape architect firm that employed Andrews. Coopers DNA was linked to the murder scene.
