In Memoriam: Andre Schwabenbauer, past CSLA president, Passes Away

EDMONTON, Alberta - Andre Schwabenbauer, president of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects from 2002-2003, died December 28, 2004 from complications caused by leukemia.

The CSLA described Schwabenbauer, 42, as a landscape architect who volunteered his time to many aspects of the profession. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1984 with a bachelor of environmental studies degree, and in 1992, he earned his MLA degree. He became a member of the Alberta Association of Landscape Architects (AALA) and the CSLA in 1991, and served on the AALA executive council from 1994 to 1998.

Schwabenbauer was instrumental in bringing the 40th World Congress of the International Federation of Landscape Architects conference to Calgary, held in 2003. Schwabenbauer was named a Fellow of the CSLA at a ceremony held during the IFLA conference.
