The city of Ketchum, Idaho, entered a contract to upgrade its wastewater treatment plant so that treated effluent is clean enough to irrigate public spaces. The city agreed to a $7.4 million contract to install a new filtration system, creating "Class A" effluent. The treated effluent will be applied to city property and around a bike path, and it will eventually be sold for irrigation of golf courses and other uses.
