The Irrigation Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to promote efficiency in landscape irrigation. IA President Ken Mills signed the agreement at the International Irrigation Show in Phoenix. Potential areas of cooperation include raising awareness among irrigation consumers of the role certification, training and efficient technology can play in conserving water while maintaining healthy landscapes.
The agency has been reviewing certification programs, including IA Certification, to determine what role certification could play in a water efficiency program. Assistant Administrator for Water Ben Grumbles also signed the document, which was presented at the Phoenix show by EPA Office of Wastewater Management Director Jim Hanlon.
