Privately-owned housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 626,000. This is 1.6 percent (???????(R)???????+???????(R)??????oe???????(R)???????+???????(R)????????15.2 percent) above the revised February estimate of 616,000 and is 20.2 percent (???????(R)???????+???????(R)??????oe???????(R)???????+???????(R)????????15.3 percent) above the March 2009 rate of 521,000.
From March 2009 to March 2010 the West fared the best of the regions with an overall increase of housing starts of 75 percent, of which 82.8 percent were single units.
