Freestone Park is one of Gilbert's premier parks, and it is a beloved landmark for the Town, surrounding communities and visitors alike. EPS Group provided landscape architecture services to enhance the main playground area, centrally located adjacent to the lake and children's railroad encircling the park, as well as increase its footprint. Design for the improvements included colorful, hip and fun play equipment shaded by a focal structure comprised of brightly colored tension sails. A newly developed belvedere lets children view the passing train from above and offers a panoramic view of the park. Other added features include new decorative paving, sidewalks, retaining walls, fencing, and poured-in-place and wood fiber play surfacing; shade trees, landscape benches and seating areas; and colorful landscaping with upgraded irrigation. Overall, the playground improvements provide an added dimension that not only draws new visitors, but also continues to make Freestone Park a favorite community destination for many years to come.
