Federal regulators have leveled DuPont Co. and a subsidiary with an $877,500 fine for improperly labeling pesticides.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said DuPont and Griffin LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary based in Valdosta, Ga., had been importing an active pesticide ingredient from a non-approved manufacturing facility in China.
The agency said the composition of two pesticides made by the companies, Super Boll and CottonQuik, differed from the compositions specified in the EPA’s approved registrations for those products.
The EPA said that after DuPont was informed of the violation in 2005, the company filed a registration amendment for the active ingredient to indicate the new source and to revise the formulation.
