David Driapsa, an Ohio native, came to Southwest Florida in 1986 to work on the Bay Colony in Pelican Bay and took up residency in the sunshine/hurricane state. He has a landscape architecture practice in Naples, Fla.

David Driapsa, a Naples landscape architect, has been appointed chairman of the ASLA Historic Preservation Professional Practice Network.

In October 2000, the National Park Service (NPS) established the Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS). Since then, the ASLA Historic Preservation Professional Practice Network (HP-PPN) has been working with the NPS and the Library of Congress to develop the HALS program. The HP-PPN identifies landscapes that merit HALS documentation and seeks funding.
