Course Description:

This seminar will discuss basic lighting design concepts for lighting the exterior and landscape. We will look at how we can extend our interior rooms and create "exterior rooms" by using lighting. We will look at application images from exterior projects and delve into lighting concepts like contrast, color temperature, and "lighting the vertical". This seminar will also look at how we incorporate decorative fixtures into our exterior rooms and the landscape. We will discuss the process of working with a custom fabricator and how to choose the right lamping. Finally, we will end this seminar with a discussion on choosing the right LED products for your exterior project and review the benefits of this new technology.

Biography:

Kathy Pryzgoda has been designing lighting for the past 25 years. In 2007 she established Light Studio LA, a multi-faceted lighting design firm. Light Studio LA produces lighting designs for Architecture, Theatre, Events, and Television. In addition to her design work, Kathy Pryzgoda teaches lighting design at UCLA extension (Architecture and Interior Design Program).
