The Davey Tree Expert Co. of Kent, Ohio has expanded its presence in Florida with the acquisition of Lawn Logic Landscaping LLC. Terms of the purchase of Lawn Logic, which is based, appropriately enough, in Davie, Fla., were not disclosed. A Davey Tree spokeswoman said Lawn Logic has about 100 employees. Revenues at the Florida company were not disclosed, according to Scott Suttell of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Davey Tree said the deal brings to five the number of acquisitions it has made this year. Previous purchases this year were of Maier Forest and Tree in Rochester, Minn.; Superior NW Tree & Shrub Care Inc. of Seattle; Cortese Tree Specialists in Knoxville, Tenn.; and Wetland Studies and Solutions Inc., in Gainesville, Va.

The acquisition of Lawn Logic bolsters Davey's services in the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. area, according to Pat Covey, chief operating officer for Davey's U.S. operations.

"We will continue to focus on high-quality companies with customer demographics that are similar to our own, within markets where we want to grow," Covey said.

Lawn Logic has offered many aspects of commercial landscape care in southeast Florida for more than 10 years. This includes landscape maintenance, tree maintenance, fertilization and irrigation.
